Breaux Bridge, Louisiana → Dallas–Fort Worth

Todd is sixty-two and has spent more than forty years in landscape lighting, most of his working life in the Dallas and Fort Worth area. Long enough that a fair number of the people who hire TC Lighting today first hired him twenty years ago, at a different house, sometimes at two or three different houses since. His own account of how he got here is further down this page.

He designs every project himself, and he designs in daylight. Asked to come back at night and walk the property before drawing anything, he tends to say he can’t see in the dark either — and that it would take a tremendous amount of time. What lets him work that way is over a thousand night-sets. Having stood on that many properties watching the effect come up, he can see the finished result while the sun is still out, and design to it.

TC Lighting, LLC was established in 2017 and runs out of Carrollton. It is a licensed Texas Electrical Contractor, TECL 41495, BBB accredited with an A+ rating, and listed on The Good Contractors List.

In Todd’s Own Words

About Me

My name is Todd Cormier. I grew up in a little town called Breaux Bridge in Southwest Louisiana, “ the heart of Cajun country”, where nature abounds with beauty, the people are warm and friendly… and as we all know, the cuisine is beyond compare! It was a rural town and as a young man, I did lot’s of hunting and fishing with my buddies. I lived 300 yards from the “Bayou Teche”and about 20 miles from the Atchafalaya Basin, “ the largest wetland & swamp in the United States. But the swamp for me and for the people in Acadiana, is not an undesirable place. It is a place of natural beauty and wildlife! And as my dad, who was a Landscape architect and horticulturist once said, “ it is a natural greenhouse for Plant life!” And without even realizing it… this may be where I learned to have a such an appreciation for beautiful surroundings, not only in the daytime but in the evening! In fact, I could not count the times I walked underneath the shadows of a majestic Live Oak tree on a moonlight night!

With that said, in my early 20’s, I was introduced to the Landscape Lighting industry, by my father… Cal Cormier, who was a very talented & passionate, landscape & architectural designer, to one of the pioneers of the “Art of Landscape Lighting”. I was also trained by him and my father in the “Art of landscape lighting” and we have never looked back, nor deviated from style and the effects that have had our customers raving for more than 40 years! Simply put, “ the most important element of landscape lighting… whether it is warm or whether it is our signature look… which is the cool & soft “moon-light” effect, created & founded in the Dallas metroplex area in the 60’s is: “WE ARE EXPERTS AT UTILIZING any GIVEN LANDSCAPE or HOMEOWNER’S CANVAS TO CREATE THE MOST DRAMATIC EFFECTS, WHILE SIMULTANEOUSLY CONCEALING THE SOURCE OF OUR LUMINAIRES”. Furthermore, there are three objectives that we set out to achieve on every project! The First is, the Aesthetics… the shadows… dappled lighting on a wall or Column, the Second is the functionality or task effect… Lighting steps, walkways, etc. and the Third is security, but our Lighting will change one’s perception about what real security lighting should be! Why? Because most people think of security lighting, that is bright and glaring! Maybe the image of a prison comes to mind! Not so with our Landscape Lighting, we create a beautiful ambience and security lighting becomes a bonus! There are also three words that describe our lighting… tasteful, discreet, and elegant!

How We Work

A Crew of Five, and the Owner on Site

Augustine — “Augie”
Project manager and onsite foreman, running a crew of five. Clients name him by name in their reviews, which is not something that happens by accident.
Todd Is There Each Day
Not a salesman who hands the job off. Review after review says the same thing: “Todd came each day to review progress.”
Licensed, Not Just Experienced
Landscape lighting is electrical work. TECL 41495 is verifiable with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, and a great many lighting installers do not hold one.
Conduit, Every Time
Bare buried cable is the usual reason a system starts dying around year ten. Running it in conduit costs more on day one and is why our repair calls are nearly always on somebody else’s work.
Day-Set, Then Night-Set
Every fixture spotted and day-set before installation; a night-set after dark on the majority of projects, usually one or two adjustments. Todd likes being there for it — watching a client see the property lit for the first time is the part of the job he enjoys most.
The Site Is Clean Every Evening
Mentioned unprompted in review after review, which tells you how unusual it is: “they clean up at the end of each day, something most contractors don’t do.”
